Colin Powell, the man who was conned into believing 'compassionate conservatism' was in charge of the Republican Party rather than 'neo nazism,' as evidenced by the past eight years, appeared on Meet The Press today, and as expected endorsed Barack Obama.
During the interview, regarding the 'outcry' whether Obama is a Muslim, Powell noted that although Obama is a Christian, the following question should be asked instead, "What if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country?" For that comment I commend him. Why shouldn't a Muslim child born and raised in the U.S. not be able to dream today that she could one day be the President of the U.S.?

Mr. Powell is someone who I admire a lot, a role model, and a hero. And as he publicly declared, both of these candidates are qualified to be President.
However, I will say what a lot of independents have not declared publicly, but know deep in their hearts, that Obama is the one who has connected, and instilled confidence with the American people, as well as the rest of the world, while McCain displayed inconsistency, and picked the wrong 'woman' to be his VP.
I don't even think the election will be close. I believe a large number of non-Democrat but closet Obama supporters, disillusioned with the 'new' Republican Party, will emerge on Election Day and vote for Obama.
But plenty of people think the opposite could also be true. People who've publicly indicated they would vote for Obama will instead vote for McCain simply because Obama is black. If that is the only way McCain would become President, then I choose not to engage as a participant in his corner.
Colin Powell often said throughout this campaign that he cannot be expected to vote for Obama simply because Mr. Powell is black. And I cannot be expected to vote for Mr. McCain simply because he is white.
But today TalkTurkey is ready to endorse Barack Obama for President.
Here's what The Los Angeles Times said, echoing my sentiments . . .
But it doesn't mean I will actually vote! Since my vote will probably not count.
