Can one criticize Israel without being perceived as criticizing Jews? Is it political suicide to criticize Israel?
Former President Jimmy Carter on Larry King Live the other night stated that Israel receives $10M per day from the USA. That's more than $3.5B a year.
He also went on to say Israel's disproportionate killing needs to stop, especially the bombings of mosques, houses, and schools; specifically mentioning the UN school where all 30 kids were killed, and that the UN has denied there were any terrorists inside, despite Israel's justification of the attack for that reason.
In today's day and age, when we are questioning the necessity of a $50 Million plane that the Citi Group ordered and eventually cancelled due to public outcry, as well as asking for a line item accounting of billions of bailout money to our own private enterprises, let alone foreign ones; I don't understand why the 'media' hasn't honed in on the US aid to foreign nations, most notably its largest recipient, Israel. Israel is the largest cumulative recipient of U.S. foreign assistance since World War II. What are they doing with our money?
Obviously, none of this includes any private aid to Israel by individuals and corporations, as well as banks, which amount to a lot of additional money, believe me. So as President Obama insists those who are self-sufficient should not receive government entitlements; and those who make more than $250K a year should not get tax cuts, which is a refund of their own money by the way, maybe a closer examination of Israel and other recipients of foreign aid should be explored.
According to a Reuters report, "Bush increased foreign aid to $23 billion in 2006 from $12.6 billion in 2001, most of it in a dramatic shift of resources to the war on terrorism, ... and Obama has pledged to double foreign aid to $50 Billion by 2012."
